Old Mormon Cemetery

Located off Ball Mill Rd

Come along, as we leave Ball Mill Rd and walk SE along an old roadway that leads to the Old Mormon Cemetery. We turn right in front of an old trailer that is sitting beside the road and cross Grapevine Branch. Continuing for about 40ft along the right side of the road under a tree, lies a gristwheel that was taken from the old Ball Mill site. About 10ft to the right of the gristwheel is a spring. We continue on for about 975 ft to the cemetery, located on a ridge on S side of road where it curves sharply NE. Snowball, the landowner's dog led us to and from the cemetery and kept us from getting lost.

On the first visit to this cemetery in Sep 1990, the cemetery was grown up with weeds and brush covering most of the headstones. A very long blacksnake crawled across my foot that day! Quite a memorable experience that I will never forget. Since then it has been cleaned off by the boy scouts of the Church of Latter Day Saints.
